Twin Cities Catholics: Sign the letter, ask for change

On August 20, more than 100 Catholic young adults joined us for a prayer vigil for the survivors of clerical abuse. On August 28, more than 100 joined for a facilitated discussion on the crises running through our Church. We now invite you to the next step.

We've drafted a letter with 8 concrete, specific, and actionable recommendations for change from the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. We focus on survivors, transparency and accountability, lay involvement, education, and the personal responsibility of our pastors. The letter comes after engaging more than 100 local Catholics and the involvement of professionals in mental health, civil law, canon law, accounting, and other areas. We've crafted the letter with a focus on the local Church, and after a review of diocesan law, policies put in place as part of the 2014 settlement with survivors, and current and past procedures of the Archdiocese. Our goal was to be as local and specific as possible.

You can view and sign the letter (by Sept. 9) here!

We've also laid out some of the recommendations we chose not to include and why, which you can find here. Share with your friends, and join us as we respond to these crises through prayer, education, dialogue, and action.
