The Church is moving forward, but our work is far from over. In the interest of further educating ourselves and others, YArespond is inviting Twin Cities Catholic young adults to join us for small casual conversations with survivors, priests, and professionals working to address the crisis of abuse and leadership in the Church. We want to help empower the laity to respond to these problems with informed and holistic perspectives! You don't need to have any particular background or experiences to join us. All you need is an openness to others' stories and perspectives, as well as a desire to know more.
We currently have a handful of discussion evenings scheduled. Depending on the number of spots available, you'll be invited to attend one or more, as you are able (i.e., you don't need to be available for multiple discussions). Our current discussions are:
A Survivor's Perspective (April 25)
An activist's perspective (May 7)
The work of a diocesan ombudsman (May 14)
A parish priest's perspective (May 21)
A former criminal prosecutor's perspective (date/time TBD)
To apply, please fill out the form here. We'll contact you by email if you are selected. In the meantime, please share with your friends, and also browse our website for more information on the crisis and how you can respond!
YArespond is a group of Catholic young adults based in the Twin Cities seeking informed and holistic ways to respond to the abuse crises in our Church. We focus on a fourfold response consisting of prayer, education, dialogue, and action. Currently, we are working on developing resources for parishes and ministries to host events and dialogues.
